Job Overview:

The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the maintenance operations within an organization or facility. This role involves leading a team of maintenance technicians and ensuring the efficient functioning of all mechanical, electrical, and structural systems. The Maintenance Supervisor ensures that all equipment, machinery, and systems are operating optimally and that any necessary repairs, upgrades, or preventive maintenance tasks are completed in a timely and cost-effective manner.

The Maintenance Supervisor is a key role in ensuring the facility's continuous operation, safety, and efficiency. A proactive, detail-oriented individual with strong technical and managerial skills is essential for success in this role. They must be able to respond quickly to issues, prioritize tasks effectively, and lead their team to achieve company goals.

  • Lead, supervise, and train a team of maintenance workers and technicians.
  • Assign tasks, monitor progress, and ensure that work is carried out to company standards and safety regulations.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to team members to enhance their technical skills and performance.
  • Conduct performance reviews and offer feedback to maintenance staff.
  • Organize and schedule maintenance shifts to ensure 24/7 coverage when required.
  • Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs for machinery, equipment, and facility infrastructure to minimize downtime and extend the lifespan of assets.
  • Monitor equipment performance and promptly respond to breakdowns or failures, coordinating repairs or replacements as necessary.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose issues with mechanical, electrical, HVAC, and plumbing systems.
  • Ensure that all maintenance activities comply with safety standards and industry regulations.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including repairs, replacements, and part usage.
  • Manage the procurement of maintenance materials, tools, and parts, ensuring adequate stock levels are maintained.
  • Monitor and manage maintenance budgets, ensuring cost-effective solutions and minimizing unnecessary expenditures.
  • Prepare and submit reports on maintenance costs and provide recommendations for improvements or investments.
  • Oversee the upkeep and repair of the physical infrastructure of the facility, including HVAC systems, lighting, plumbing, and building security systems.
  • Ensure the facility meets local, state, and federal safety codes and regulations.
  • Conduct routine inspections of equipment, machinery, and the building, ensuring compliance with environmental, health, and safety standards.
  • Respond quickly and efficiently to facility emergencies, such as power outages, equipment failures, or hazardous material spills.
  • Coordinate emergency repair efforts and communicate updates to management and relevant stakeholders.
  • Maintain a detailed log of emergency maintenance activities for future reference and reporting.
  • Ensure that all maintenance tasks and procedures are in compliance with safety regulations, environmental laws, and industry standards.
  • Perform safety audits, risk assessments, and implement corrective actions where necessary.
  • Train team members on safety protocols, proper use of equipment, and emergency procedures.
  • Enforce safety practices and maintain a safe working environment for the maintenance team.
  • Oversee third-party contractors or vendors performing specialized maintenance or repairs.
  • Negotiate contracts, obtain quotes, and review vendor performance.
  • Ensure that external contractors adhere to company policies, quality standards, and safety guidelines.
  • Prepare detailed reports on the status of maintenance operations, including completed tasks, ongoing projects, and upcoming maintenance schedules.
  • Keep track of work orders, service requests, and track completion timelines.
  • Maintain records of inspections, repairs, and compliance with regulations.

Requirements:

What you need to succeed (Qualifications, experience, skills, attributes)!
As per the role of Maintenance Supervisor we are looking for 3 – 4 years of experience in a maintenance role, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or leadership position. Hands-on experience with building systems, machinery, equipment, and repair techniques. Familiarity with preventive maintenance schedules and asset management software. Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills. In-depth technical knowledge of mechanical, electrical, HVAC, and plumbing systems. Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot complex maintenance issues. Strong knowledge of safety procedures, regulations, and best practices. Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

Budget management and cost control experience. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) or similar software tools
