Job Overview:

In the role of Director of Business Development Strategy & Analytics it will lead the development and execution of strategic business growth initiatives, using data analytics to drive actionable insights and improve decision-making across the organization. This role combines business acumen, strategic thinking, and advanced analytics to identify growth opportunities, optimize existing processes, and support the company’s expansion goals in the shipping, logistics, and freight forwarding sectors.

The Director will work closely with senior leadership and cross-functional teams to define long-term strategies, evaluate new markets, partnerships, and business models, and provide strategic recommendations that drive profitability and market leadership.

  • Lead the identification and development of new business opportunities, including potential markets, products, services, and partnerships within the logistics, shipping, and freight forwarding industries.
  • Analyze emerging industry trends, customer needs, and market dynamics to define and drive strategic growth initiatives.
  • Develop actionable business cases for new ventures, partnerships, and expansion strategies, including cost-benefit analysis, ROI projections, and risk assessments.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to set long-term business goals and align business development strategies with corporate objectives.
  • Utilize advanced data analytics to support the development of business strategies, including identifying key performance drivers, market segments, and business trends.
  • Leverage data to inform decisions related to market entry, pricing strategies, customer acquisition, and business expansion.
  • Conduct regular market research and competitive analysis to monitor industry shifts, emerging technologies, and customer preferences.
  • Develop and maintain dashboards and reporting tools to track performance against key business development goals and KPIs (e.g., revenue growth, customer acquisition, market share).
  • Lead in-depth analysis of new geographic markets, customer segments, and verticals to identify high-potential business opportunities.
  • Perform competitive benchmarking and identify areas of differentiation and growth potential within the logistics and freight forwarding industry.
  • Assess risks and opportunities associated with market entry, partnerships, joint ventures, and acquisitions.
  • Support the go-to-market strategy, including the development of marketing and sales strategies to drive successful business expansion.
  • Work closely with Sales, Marketing, Operations, Finance, and IT teams to ensure alignment and integration of business development strategies across the organization.
  • Partner with Product and Operations teams to develop innovative solutions and offerings that meet customer needs and market demands.
  • Collaborate with the Finance team to develop financial models and projections to assess the viability of new business opportunities.
  • Lead and mentor a team of business development analysts and strategists, providing guidance, professional development, and performance feedback.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and data-driven decision-making within the team.
  • Ensure the team is well-equipped with the necessary tools and resources to perform in-depth market research and competitive analysis.
  • Develop and drive initiatives that optimize business processes, improve operational efficiency, and maximize profitability across the business development function.
  • Analyze pricing strategies and customer acquisition costs to ensure alignment with overall profitability and business objectives.
  • Implement performance tracking mechanisms to evaluate the success of business development initiatives and make adjustments based on feedback and market changes.
  • Develop and maintain performance dashboards and reports that track key business development metrics, ensuring transparency and visibility for leadership.
  • Prepare and present regular business development updates, including progress on strategic initiatives, market insights, and growth opportunities, to the senior leadership team.
  • Provide strategic recommendations based on analysis of performance data to ensure continuous improvement and alignment with corporate growth objectives.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, market developments, and new technologies that could impact business development opportunities.
  • Identify new approaches, methodologies, and technologies to enhance the effectiveness of business development efforts and strategies.
  • Continuously seek opportunities to innovate within the company’s business development approach, ensuring a competitive edge in the logistics and shipping industries.

Requirements:

What you need to succeed (Qualifications, experience, skills, attributes)!
In the requirement of Director of Business Development Strategy & Analytics we are looking for a Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Business, Logistics, or a related field. 10 + years of experience in business development, strategy, or analytics, with at least 5 years in a leadership role in the shipping, logistics, or freight forwarding industry. Proven experience in leading strategic growth initiatives, analysing market trends, and driving business expansion. Expertise in leveraging data and analytics to inform strategic business decisions. Experience managing cross-functional teams and influencing decision-making at the executive level. Strong knowledge of business development processes, market research, competitive analysis, and financial modelling.
